Calls to Action That Actually Turn Visitors into Enquiries

Say what happens next, not what the button does

'Get my free quote' beats 'Submit'. 'Call 07552 867307' beats 'Contact'. A good call to action tells the visitor exactly what they'll get and costs them nothing to understand. Read yours aloud: if it describes the form instead of the benefit, rewrite it.

One primary action per page

Every page should have one job, and one button that does it. When everything is emphasised — call now, sign up, download, follow us, read more — nothing is. Choose the action that matters most on that page and give it the visual priority; make alternatives visibly secondary.

Placement follows the reading journey

Above the fold for the ready-to-act visitor, again after your strongest proof for the convinced, and at the end for the thorough reader. Three chances, same action. Hiding the only enquiry route in a menu or a footer costs you the majority of people who were persuaded mid-page.

Lower the commitment, raise the clicks

'Free, no-obligation review' converts where 'Buy now' fails, because the ask matches the visitor's readiness. Most visitors aren't ready to buy — they're ready to start a conversation. That's why every page on this site leads to a free, honest website review rather than a hard sell.

The five-minute test

Open your three most important pages on your phone. Can you act within one screen, without thinking? Is the phone number tappable? Does the main button say what you get? If any answer is no, you've found the cheapest conversion improvement available to you this week. And if you'd like the whole site checked end to end — calls to action included — that's precisely what a website audit is for.
